Western United sign young striker Ayom Majok

Western United is pleased to announce the signing of young striker Ayom Majok on a two-year scholarship deal.

The forward joins the squad from South Australian club Cumberland United, where he scored nine goals in the 2020 National Premier League (NPL) season.

Majok said he was excited to join the Green and Black and mentioned Head Coach Mark Rudan as one of the reasons he made the move to Victoria.

“I’m excited to be here and I can’t wait,” Majok said.

“The coach has impressed me a lot and he’s one of the reasons I came here.

“All the boys have been so nice, the training is intense and I’m looking forward to more.

“Hopefully I can help the team to score goals.”

United GM Football Ante Kovacevic said Majok is a bright, young talent with an eye for goal.

“Ayom is a young player for the future,” Kovacevic said.

“He’s a 17-year-old that has scored goals in the South Australian NPL this season.

“He’s already had good exposure at a senior level, in what is a very competitive league in SA.

“He’s got pace, he’s dangerous up front and causes defences a lot of headaches. He’s one we will continue to nurture and develop at Western United.”

Majok has joined the squad for full training ahead of the Club’s round 1 match on 28 December against Adelaide United at GMHBA Stadium, Geelong.
