Western United will return to Morshead Park in Ballarat this Friday to take on reigning Hyundai A-League champions Sydney FC in a pre-season friendly.

It is United’s second game in Ballarat in the space of six days, after the A-League’s newest club played out a goalless draw with Adelaide United on Saturday.

There is sure to be some added spice when the two sides meet, after former Sydney defender and championship winner Aaron Calver joined Western United in the off-season.

Furthermore, Head Coach Mark Rudan is a Championship winner with the Sky Blues and a club great.

Sydney FC is set to arrive full of firepower, boasting the likes of Milos Ninkovic and Adam Le Fondre as well as new signings Kosta Barbarouses and Alexander Baumjohann.

Western United have already faced A-League opposition three times this pre-season, registering a win, loss and draw.

The Green and Black will be hoping for another solid performance against Sydney as they prepare for their round 1 clash with Wellington Phoenix on the 13th of October.
