Western United and Adelaide United drew 0-0 today in a Ballarat friendly.

In cool, rainy conditions on an excellent surface at Morsehead Park the friendly  was another chance for both sides to work on their fitness and formations while taking the Hyundai A-League to country Victoria.

STORY OF THE GAME

Even opening 15 minutes with no clear chances

19’ Hamill with a beautiful ball over the top for Stametelopoulos to run onto but United’s Izzo clears the danger.

24’ Kurto tips over brilliantly after Riley McGree finished off a flowing move

26’ Izzo tips over Cavallo’s curling set piece as the game starts to open up

36’: RED CARD! Riley McGree is off though there’s confusion as to why. He walks off but Western United seem to say leave him on. He’s off but sportingly WUFC allow a replacement to come  (Lachy Brook) so it’s still 11 v 11. Not seen that before. It must have been dissent.

39: Kurto with a diving save to his left gets the crowd on its feet

HALF-TIME: 0-0

53’ Al Hassan Toure on the burst for the Reds but his low shot is easy pickings for Kurto

70’ Durante with a long-range drive that goes just wide. A great effort from the big defender

72’ McDonald’s shot blocked in front of the Reds’ goal as the game opens up.

FULL-TIME: 0-0
