Western United were aiming for a third consecutive win when it took on the Newcastle Jets at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday night.

Connor Pain and Scott McDonald went close early on as United started brightly.

But the Jets were able to work themselves into the game, troubling United keeper Filip Kurto on numerous occasions.

Ernie Merrick’s side found themselves in front when Dimi Petratos played in Angus Thurgate who finished past Filip Kurto.

United thought they had their equaliser in the second half when Josh Risdon headed home, but Besart Berisha was shown to be offside in the build-up.

The Green and Black weren’t able to find a way through as the Jets held on for the 1-0 win.
