Form Guide

Macarthur FC: WLWLL

Western United: WWLLW

Western United broke a run of two straight losses last week with a 1-0 win over Brisbane Roar at AAMI Park.

Alessandro Diamanti found Dylan Pierias with an inch-perfect cross, who then headed home the winner.

Macarthur has lost their last two games, failing to score in either of them.

A 2-0 loss to the league-leading Central Coast Mariners was followed by a 3-0 drubbing to Melbourne City last week.

Previous Meetings

Western United defeated Macarthur 4-1 in their only ever meeting back in February.

Two goals from Besart Berisha helped United to a convincing win in Ballarat over the A-League new boys.

What Mark Rudan is saying

“Our job is to continue on and to make sure that we’re okay and in a good place.

“They have lost a couple on the trot and we’ve got our tails up and we’re playing some good football.

“You can see in this league it’s always up and down – there’s a lot of inconsistent results.

“We know that they’re looking for a reaction and we have to make sure that we don’t allow that reaction to happen.”

Stats of the week

  • Alessandro Diamanti has created 10 big scoring chances in the 2020/21 A-League season, the most by any player in the campaign.
  • Macarthur FC have the highest passing accuracy (85.5%) of any team this season.
