The Green and Black were impressive in last week’s 1-0 win over Wellington Phoenix in Round 1 and will look to make it two wins from two.

Alessandro Diamanti will hope to carry his form over from last week. The Italian star put on a dazzling display that caught the eye across the league.

Meanwhile, Dario Jertec received plenty of praise for his performance in the heart of midfield as the team’s heart and fighting spirit came to the fore.

Perth will be hungry after its opening round clash against Brisbane.

Tony Popovic’s men were just seconds away from winning their round 1 clash before Roy O’Donovan’s 94th-minute equalizer salvaged a point for the Roar.

Key stats ahead of Saturday’s game

  • Western United FC will be looking to become just the second team in A-League history to win their first two games in the competition; Gold Coast United began their tenure with a three-game winning streak in 2009.
  • Besart Berisha (Western United FC) has scored 16 goals against Perth Glory in the A-League, the joint-second most of any player against a single opponent in the history of the competition.
  • Western United FC made five open play crosses in Round 1 of this A-League season – the fewest of any team – however, their 60% success rate from those crosses was by far the best of any side.
  • Alessandro Diamanti and Josh Risdon have the equal highest numbers of dribbles attempted for Western United so this season with 5 each.
