Western United made its E-League debut on the weekend at ESL Studios in Sydney with N8_Dylan winning the XBOX player of the day award.
Here’s how our boys N8-Dylan and N8_Cenk fared.
Round 1: Bye
Round 2 vs Western Sydney Wanderers: 4 – 4 draw
N8_Dylan: 3 – 1 win vs WSW Negede
N8_Cenk: 1 – 3 loss vs WSW Vince
United picking up one point against Western Sydney Wanderers in its debut. Dylan clearly was not phased by the new stage and live audience, picking up his first win of the E-League. Cenk played well for the majority of the match, however, mistakes cost him in the end.
Round 3 vs Wellington Phoenix: 1 – 2 loss
N8_Dylan: 1 – 0 win vs Wellington Airbrn
-N8_Cenk: 0 – 2 loss vs Wellington HoneyBadger
The matchup against HoneyBadger, who made his return to the E-League this year, proved too much for Cenk. Meanwhile, Dylan proved that his first game was no fluke; winning in a close affair to secure his individual victory.
Round 4 vs Adelaide United: 3 – 2 win
N8_Dylan: 1 – 2 loss vs Adelaide Jaz
N8_Cenk: 2 – 0 win vs Adelaide Burgo
After a disappointing start for Cenk, he picked up a great win against Burgo.
Dylan faced an extremely tough opponent in Jaz, one he recognized as one of his biggest rivals. The match was extremely close, going down to the wire, but Jaz was able to hold Dylan out.
Round 5 vs Melbourne City: 3 – 5 loss
N8_Dylan: 2 – 0 win vs Melbourne City MarcusGomes
N8_Cenk: 1 – 5 loss vs Melbourne City Saisanas
The first cross-city derby was always going to be extremely tough, the talented Saisanas along with arguably the greatest Australian FIFA player in history, Marcus Gomes, a clear title favorite.
Dylan however, ensured that he proved once more, why he is currently the 3rd highest ranked FIFA player in Australia – taking down MarcusGomes for the individual victory.
Unfortunately, this victory wasn’t enough to overcome the 4 goal deficit that the PS4 leg inflicted on the team. Cenk, uncharacteristically, conceded 4 early goals after scoring first.
Round 6 vs Central Coast Mariners: 2 – 0 win
N8_Dylan: 1 – 0 win vs Central Coast Kyren
N8_Cenk: 1 – 0 win vs Central Coast JesseD
Heading into the final round of Matchday 1, three points were crucial. Given this, both Dylan and Cenk were able to secure extremely close victories.
Summary
United secured sixth placed overall, heading into Matchday 2 on March 7.
This foundation is solid but with some extremely tough opponents, including the #1 seeded Sydney FC, WUFC has a big challenge ahead.
On an individual note, N8_Dylan was awarded the XBOX Player of the Day after finishing with a record of 4-0-1.
