One-time Italian superstar Christian Vieri has backed good friend Alessandro Diamanti and his new club Western United.

Vieri, who scored 23 goals for his national team across 49 appearances, took to Twitter to voice his support of United’s number 23.

“Great Diamanti, great Western United. Come on guys, let’s win something. A hug from me Diamanti,” Vieri said.

The former Inter, Juventus and Atlético Madrid striker retired in 2009 with a career goal-tally of 259.

Now, he’ll be keeping one eye on Diamanti and the A-League’s newest club.
