Key stats ahead of Western United’s first game in Brisbane

Besart Berisha reminded A-League fans of his lethal finishing last Sunday, scoring a brace against former side Melbourne Victory.

Berisha has found the net five times since returning to the A-League.

It comes to little surprise. The A-League’s all-time top scorer has the highest expected goals value per shot of any player in the competition.

Berisha will hope to record his sixth goal of the season when he takes on another of his former clubs, Brisbane Roar this Friday.

Here are four key stats ahead of United’s trip to Brisbane:

  • This will be the first A-League game between Brisbane Roar and Western United FC; only once from six attempts in the competition has a Queensland side won their inaugural game against a Victorian side (D2, L3).

  • Western United FC has hit the woodwork on five occasions this A-League season, more than any other team in the competition.

  • Besart Berisha (Western United FC) has an Expected Goals value of 0.3 per shot (inc. blocks) this A-League campaign, the highest of any player to have attempted five or more shots in total (inc. blocks).

  • Josh Risdon (Western United FC) has recorded 3 assists this season. Only Alex Baumjohann and Brandon O’Neill have assisted more (4).
