Ballarat to host Western United and Sydney FC A-League clash

Ballarat

Football returns to Ballarat for the final time this A-League season, with the regional city hosting Western United’s next home fixture against Sydney FC on Saturday, 15 May.

It will be the third time Mars Stadium in Ballarat has hosted an A-League fixture this campaign.

With the 2020/21 season nearing its conclusion and finals places still very much up for grabs, this game looms as a crucial clash in the complexion of United’s season.

“It’s always a fantastic atmosphere when we go to Ballarat. The fans there really get behind us and create a lot of noise in the stands,” Western United CEO Chris Pehlivanis said.

“We are looking forward to welcoming the reigning champions Sydney FC to what should be a great game in the lead-up to finals.”

The match will end a four-game road trip for the Green and Black and will be the first of three home games within just over two weeks.

Fans will also have the opportunity to see the A-League’s best in Alessandro Diamanti while two-time reigning champions Sydney FC will welcome back forward Adam Le Fondre for the clash.

United has played two games at the venue this season against Macarthur FC and Western Sydney Wanderers respectively, making Sydney FC the third NSW team to travel to Ballarat in 2021.

Tickets for the match go on sale at 3pm today.

For Western United’s final three home games, fans can access a special deal of $10 tickets.

General Admission will include the new Mars Stadium terracing, where fans can get an authentic football viewing experience.
