Western United CEO Chris Pehlivanis has penned a message of support to all Western United fans during these challenging times. He says if we stay united, together we’ll get through this.

“The board and senior management of Western United Football Club would like to advise that today the Hyundai A-League Season 2019/2020 has been postponed, effective immediately.

“The decision is the latest in a series of measures introduced by the game’s governing body Football Federation Australia (FFA) in response to the ongoing spread of the COVID-19 virus.

“Clearly this has been a very difficult decision given the late stage we are in the A-League season.

“It has been taken to ensure the health and safety of those involved in our club and the wider community, as we do everything in our power to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

“There are bigger issues than football right now which is why the football family is working together to make hard decisions now that will hopefully lead to a safer future for all.

“We’ll be ready to go when the league resumes. In the meantime, we urge our Western United community of members, corporate supporters, fans, staff, and volunteers to stay safe in these uncertain times.

“Stay united, look after each other, be kind and caring to those around you, and do the right thing for your community.

“Follow the government guidelines on social distancing, self-isolation, and hygiene, and we’ll get through this.

“The Green and Black community will come out of this stronger than ever before.

“Furthermore, I’d like to thank all our valued stakeholders for their patience in these challenging times.”
