Western United re-signs talented teenage midfielder for two more years

Western United’s future continues to look bright with the club announcing midfielder Jerry Skotadis has today signed a contract extension for two more years.

Skotadis, 19, who was contracted till the end of the season, will now remain with the Green and Black till 2022 after he signed a two-year contract extension today.

The midfielder is one of a number of younger players coming through United’s A-League ranks this season.

Skotadis has started the last six games in the A-League since debuting for United in December.

He has cemented a spot in central midfield has impressed many with his work rate and link play in midfield.

“Jerry has worked hard since the day he stepped into this football club and is deserving of this contract extension,” said Western United head coach Mark Rudan. 

“We want to be a club that gives opportunities to young players and this signing demonstrates our commitment to developing young Australian players.

“He has a great work ethic, is selfless and a strong commitment to working for the team. These are the type of players we want to attract and develop at our football club.”

Skotadis said: “I’d like to thank the boss [Mark Rudan] for giving me the chance. I want to keep working hard for the team and learning as much as I can from the older boys. I look forward to continuing my journey with the club.” 

Skotadis has been named in United’s squad for Sunday’s Australia Day clash with Adelaide United at Whitten Oval.
